Shelter animals benefit from first annual Spooktacular Howl-o-Ween event
Arlington, TX (Nov. 5, 2012) Sponsor Adoptions, Inc. and Partners of Arlington Animal Services hosted their first annual Spooktacular Howl-O-Ween fundraiser Saturday, October 27, 2012 welcoming the community and their pets out to benefit shelter animals.
Twenty volunteers and members of Sponsor Adoptions and PAAS greeted thirty to fourty people in attendance at the event. Admission to the event was a donation of 3 cans of pâté style cat or dog food or a $5 donation. All food donations helped to stock the pet food pantry.
Kids enjoyed the face painting area, games, animal balloons, and pumpkin painting. Professional photographer Alexis Bonner donated her services providing fall themed photographs for families of their children or their pets. Jessica Rodnett and her dog Jax won the best animal costume contest after gaining the most likes from followers of the PAAS Facebook page and received a Sponsor Adoptions t-shirt, two tickets to the Movie Tavern, two tickets to The Boneyard Haunted House and a one pound bag of Starbucks coffee.
A raffle with over $400 worth of meats, cheeses, wines and gift cards was donated by Cork It! in Grapevine. The winner will be selected through the raffle drawing.
Sponsor Adoptions and PAAS were able to raise $1043.00 in donations to benefit shelter animals in the area. As an active animal welfare agency in the DFW area Sponsor Adoptions event will help to support the needs of animals and their owners for emergency veterinary treatments, boarding, and many times, even general necessities such as food, bedding, and training. The event proved to be very successful for the organization’s first fund raiser. “I was pleasantly surprised at the turn out we had and how generous the community was”, Karen Monaco president of Sponsor Adoptions said. “If you have a good thing and people recognize the need for their support people reach out”.
