Max was rescued from the Arlington Animal Shelter and was being fostered until he would find his forever home. A loyal PAAS facebook follower discovered Max and sent us their story.
I fell in love with Max on Facebook. Looking into those pitiful, brown puppy dog eyes made my heart sink, and I knew he had to be mine. After a few conversations with his Foster Mom, the date was set, and I was to pick him up on a Saturday afternoon.
Finally! This beautiful, smart energetic puppy was mine, and he filled a hole that I never knew I had reserved in my heart just for him. A few days after being home, we had become acclimated and I learned his habits and got him started on a routine that fit his needs. And then I started to notice that he wasn’t himself. He wasn’t eating and Max loves to eat. He woke up early one morning vomiting, and became lethargic. I was scared.
As it turns out Max had Parvo. After visiting one pet hospital that recommended euthanasia, I transferred him and Max received the treatment he desperately needed at Denton County Animal ER.
Today he is back to his bouncing, energetic little self. As you can imagine, the combined total of one week of overnight stays between the two pet hospitals racked up some rather large medical bills. Nearly $3,000 of medical bills to be exact! Like many people, I didn’t have an extra $3000 just laying around. This was my little fur baby though and come what may, we had to get him better.
Under any other circumstances, this would have been a great financial setback, but I was blessed by Max’s foster mom, Michelle. She works at Sponsor Adoptions and helps people in my situation. She had a donation link setup and posted to Facebook in no time. I was shocked to see that over $1300 dollars was raised to contribute to Max’s medical bills.
If it weren’t for the animal loving do-gooders that are the heart and soul of Sponsor Adoptions, and the generosity of family, friends and even many strangers who made a donation through the link, I don’t know what I would have done. I wish I could hug and personally thank every last one of them face-to-face!
Sponsor Adoptions is a wonderful organization, and they all have a piece of my heart and undying gratitude for springing into action to help me and Mighty Max in our time of need.
Thanks Sponsor Adoptions!
